The first round got started off with a bang at Prospera Place as the host league Peach Tarts took on perhaps their biggest challenge to date with the Oil City Derby Girls Allstars.  Oil City set  the tone for the first round with a resounding 248-9 win.

In the Second round, was probably THE most anticipated game of the weekend, it was the Battle of Edmonton, and the OCDG Allstars took on The E-Ville Dead for the first time ever.  The officials did a good job keeping this potential powder keg under control.  But at the end of the day E-Ville pulled out the win 123-119 as the Oil City Jammer went to the penalty box, allowing The Dead to pick up a final 5 points and call it off for the win.  Look for Oil City to be coming for revenge September 17 as they play E-Ville for the Wild Rose Cup at home in Edmonton.

On Day 2 The Belladonnas and OCDG Allstars faced off for the 3rd place position.  Despite the long history between these two leagues, their full A-Teams have never faced off.  Yet another first in a tournament of firsts (8/10 games featured first time matchups).   In a largely close game with a few big plays proving most of the difference Oil City eventually came out on top 186-126
Congrats to the Oil City Tank'er Girls for their first win of the season defeating Calgary's Thrashing Lassies with a final score of 140-109. Thanks to the Calgary Roller Derby Association and Officials!

Rage City 134 - Oil City 130

Expectations were high as the Anchorage fans didn't want to see their Rage city girls go 2 and 0 against the visiting OCDG squad. The sold out crowd was treated to a back and forth nail-biter. With overtime looming, Rage City pulled out a 4 point victory on the last jam of the bout. Both teams look forward to a third round to this great rivalry. Special Thanks to Rage City for some great hospitality and to all their fine officials and volunteers.
